As the company continues to recover from yesterdays operational problems, they are asking for your assistance in locating crew members. They have recently sent out an email asking the flight attendants who are working to complete the form provided in the link to verify your location.

Also, the company is providing food and beverages in the crew rooms in CLT & DCA today.

Current Operations

Yesterday was certainly a challenging experience, as will most likely be today and tomorrow.  With the cancellation of over 275 plus flights, the Company is doing everything it can to get the operations back up and running.  In an effort to help that process, they have deemed today and tomorrow (June 15th and 16th) as critical pay.
At this time, FLICA remains unreliable. Make sure that you are making positive contact with scheduling for up to date schedules.

The Company plans to have all operations up and fully running by 11:00 – 12:00. Management is reporting that the flight attendants are leaving the airport and going home. If you are scheduled to work today, they’ve asked that you please be patient until they’ve got schedules built. There will most likely be modifications from original schedules. This was an out of the ordinary situation, and they ask for your patience. Again, if you are scheduled to work today, please plan to do so.

There is several emails being sent by the company with up to date information, so make sure you are checking company email periodically for the latest up to date information during this time of irregular operations.
Lastly, we had no reports of a crew member not getting a hotel, which is great news.  If by chance you did not get a hotel, please let us know so we can look into it.

Please make sure that if you are commuting to work that you are following the commuter policy exactly. Failure to follow the policy and list for at least 2 flights with open seats could subject you to points under the attendance policy. Make sure that you call scheduling after EACH attempted flight and turn in your documentation to your inflight supervisor within 24 hours to be exonerated from the attendance policy.

COMMUTER POLICY

The commuter policy can be found in the employee handbook, section 14, and also on the website under the quick links tab. Both are labeled “PSA Commuter Benefit Program”.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions for anyone that may not be familiar with the policy.

  • When do I list? – You must list 24-48 hours in advance of the scheduled departure time of the flight you intend to use to commute to work. The flights need to have available seats.
  • Does my flights have to be on American? – No, you can use other carriers, as long as you have supporting documentation.
  • What documentation does the Company require, and when/where do I have to submit it?  If traveling on the American system, you can obtain check in passes either at a kiosk or at the gate. Even if you think you may get on the flight, you should always get this regardless. Out of the ordinary circumstances could happen at any time, such as a mechanical. If traveling on another carrier, you should get this from the agent as well. Make sure you get the documentation prior to the flight closing out. Once the flight closes, agents are no longer able to print them. This is the only acceptable form of documentation the Company will take. Internet printed passes are not accepted, they must be able to verify that the employee was actually at the airport. If you have missed two flights, then you will then need to turn these documents into your inflight supervisor within 24 hours. (Emailing them is permitted until you can get them the hard copies, but must be turned in by the end of your trip) It is highly recommended that you also keep copies for yourself in case there is ever a discrepancy.
  • What are the steps if I missed my commute? If you were not able to get on the first attempt, you must immediately call scheduling. You will inform them of the flight number that you missed, and the flight number of your second attempt. If you missed the second attempt, or if the flight is delayed, you will need to call scheduling again with the same information. At that point, scheduling will most likely tell you that you have to keep trying until you get on a flight and to let them know once you have made it to your domicile. The same steps will still apply for as many flights as you are attempting, Make sure you are calling each flight missed and getting your documentation for EACH FLIGHT. It is the Company’s discretion as to when you can be released from attempting and try again the next day. Even if you missed your overnight, they can reassign you other flying once you reach your domicile until you can rejoin your original trip.

Grievance Rep Openings

We have openings for Grievance reps in all bases.

Duties and Requirements:

As a grievance rep, you will need to have thorough knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement, and must uphold the highest standard of confidentiality.  The duties of the grievance rep include representing flight attendants in investigatory meetings, collecting information to file or determine if a grievance is warranted, and investigating information for a flight attendant during the investigatory meetings.

Check flight attendants can not apply, but thank you for your interest!

Candidates must also be in good standing with the Union and the Company.  Minimum of one year with the Company is preferred.

After the application process, you will need to complete an online course. After passing the online course, a training with our AFA staff attorney will take place.

We need at least one rep for all bases, especially bases outside of CLT.

Being a grievance rep does hold a lot of responsibility, but it is very rewarding to represent your co-workers! We hope we have a great turnout for applicants. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
