Communications Committee

Connecting Flight Attendants Through Clear and Timely Communication

The Communications Committee serves a critical role by ensuring consistent and effective communication with our membership through various platforms — including print, web, social media, and emerging channels.

Working closely with officers and committee members, the Committee maintains all communication channels and ensures that our members receive accurate, timely updates.

Committee Responsibilities

The Communications Committee acts as an advisory and operational arm of the LEC on all matters related to membership communications.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising officers and committees on communications best practices, including copyright, photo permissions, privacy, and spam policies.

  • Maintaining the website and social-media presence for the Local Councils; making updates quickly and accurately.

  • Creating and distributing regular electronic updates to flight attendants, and maintaining mailing lists.

  • Coordinating with local committees to gather news, events, and information for member updates.

  • Promoting and leveraging new communication channels (Text Messaging, Facebook, Instagram, Linktree) to reach the membership effectively.

  • Monitoring communications coming from management and flagging any inaccurate or inappropriate content to the LEC and MEC President.

  • Providing metrics and reports to officers on the effectiveness of communications — including website traffic, email open rates, social-media engagement.

Why Effective Communication Matters

Robust communication strengthens our union community by ensuring that every flight attendant stays informed, empowered, and connected. When members receive clear, consistent messaging and have access to timely information, we enhance our collective unity and ability to act as one.
